| Microsoft has recently released a new version of Office. A beta version of Office 2010 Professional is available for anyone to download. Two packages are offered - Home and Business package has Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote - while the Enterprise package adds Access, Publisher and three networking apps. Most importantly, the beta doesn't expire until October of 2010, so you have nearly a year to use it. Another excellent aspect is that Office 2010 can usually be installed along side an older version.(Outlook being an exception - only one version of it can be installed on any PC) I found no compatibility issues with Office 2003. The interface is very much like Office 2007 with the ribbon at the top. One change has the File menu opening in a full page rather than as a ribbon. That seems to make sense, but time will tell. To download, you must sign in with a WindowsLive ID. All you need is an email address to create a WindowsLive ID. My bottom line is that I'm very pleased with the beta of Office 2010 Professional. I was able to install it without wiping out my older version of Office and I can try it out for nearly a year - sweet! Microsoft Office for zero dollars - need I say more? Office 2010 Professional can be downloaded HERE. |
